You showed up in my sleep last night beside the food dish, impatient as ever. When I called, you ran straight into me. I remember the warmth of your body and how impossible it felt to stop holding you. Waking was the second loss: the room came back, and your place near the bed was empty. Still, for a little while I had you again. You looked well, Archie--clear eyes, easy breath, no tiredness. Maybe my mind made it. Maybe you found a way to visit. Either way, thank you. Come again when you can.
