Every morning began with you calling before anyone else was awake. My feet still carry me toward the cage, and sometimes "Good morning" is already out before the empty perch catches up with me. Last week a white feather appeared beneath the sofa. I put it on the nightstand, close enough to see when I wake. The rooms are so much quieter now. I never understood how much space one small, noisy bird could hold. I miss you, Pico.
