What Can I Do With My Dog’s Collar After They Die?
A dog’s collar can become strangely difficult to move after they die.
It is such a small thing, but it once sat against their neck every day.
You do not have to decide what it should become immediately.
You can simply keep it
Clean it gently if needed, let it dry completely, and place it somewhere safe.
There is nothing wrong with leaving it exactly as it is.
Put it beside a photograph
A collar and name tag can make a very simple memorial without turning an entire room into one.
Add it to a memory box
If you do not want to see it every day but are not ready to let it go, a memory box gives it a protected place.
Keep the story with it
Write one sentence about it:
“This was the collar he wore on our evening walks.”
Years later, the sentence may bring back more than the object alone.
And if one day you choose a new remembrance that you can wear yourself, that does not replace the collar they wore.
One belonged to their life.
The other can belong to the way you remember it.
